LIGHTER WEIGHT, GREATER DURABILITY
FOR LUXURY VEHICLES
THE CHALLENGE
DENSO, a leading supplier of advanced automotive
technologies, systems and components for the world’s
major automakers, approached Avient looking for
material science expertise and development.
Christoph Wallner (Unit
Head, DENSO Europe), throughout the challenging
development and fine tuning of the formulation.

By limiting the growth of microbes in finished
plastic parts, Cesa WithStand can reduce odor
development, helping products smell better
longer.
Cesa WithStand solutions include technical
assistance to customize the additive dosage, as
well as support with processes and specifications,
helping to reduce time to market and saving time
and cost in the development process.

Colorant
Chromatics PEI colorants are designed specifically
for use in these resins to help boost color
consistency and streamline product development
for increased speed to market.
Custom colors
and pigment loadings can be developed for specific
applications.

Developed
to support growing sustainability goals, these bio-
polymers offer hardness levels from 30-70 Shore A
and property retention comparable to traditional
petroleum-based TPEs.
Avient can also develop custom bio-based
formulations that expand on the initial reSound BIO
portfolio.

So HIVIZ product development engineers
aimed their sights on recoil reduction technology for a
major high-end rifle manufacturer, and it was game on.
To develop a high-end version with
additional features, the design team was seeking a
new material.
https://www.avient.com/sites/default/files/2021-03/wet-grip-tpe-surfco-case-study.pdf
The challenge was to develop a solution that would
maintain grip when wet, be non-abrasive to the skin,
stand up to UV, allow good adherence to and visibility
of the board— all the while, staying true to SurfCo’s
roots in both safety and performance.
THE SOLUTION
Working collaboratively with SurfCo and its
manufacturer and processor, Avient set to work on
developing a polymeric, wet grip technology.
