Avient developed a new technology suite that uses specialty engineered polyketone (PK) thermoplastics and helps our customers meet their goals to lower the carbon footprint of their products versus traditional materials, like PA66 and PA6.

The polymer structure of PK is very
similar to PA6 and PA66, which explains their similar
performance.
This makes
PK much less hygroscopic and less sensitive to
moisture conditioning than PA6 and PA66.

Complēt PKE formulations are semi-crystalline and deliver excellent chemical resistance, low moisture uptake, and dimensional stability similar to nylon (PA66).
When compared to alternatives during standard testing, these materials can help reduce carbon footprint over the product lifecycle, producing 61% less CO₂ than PA66, 46% less than PA6, and 30% less than POM.
